Workshop preparations and more

norma-leading-camp-workshopIt’s been a busy two weeks for Pen and Paper Mama Services. I’ve been taking all that reading and research I did over the summer while my right arm was out of commission, and am turning it into practical and informative workshops to be presented in October and November here in the Okanagan Valley (this snapshot happens to be from a workshop I led at the BC Youth Writers Camp in July 2014). And then, of course, I’m still writing, editing, tutoring and so on! Lots of adventure 🙂

Create handouts for upcoming workshops (see below)
Type up my left-hand-written reading notes from this summer when I couldn’t write or type with my right-hand (typing was the easy part; reading my left-handed scrawl was the challenge!)

Continue editing of a fantasy/romance novel

“Educating Omar Khadr” podcast from CBC Radio’s Tapestry  (I highly recommend this interview!)

Continue reading from The Art of the Personal Essay
Reading from Faith Today magazine
Read rest of Opening Up to Indie Authors (by Debbie Young and Dan Holloway, with Orna Ross)

Continue to prepare for two workshops for The Word Guild (Okanagan/Shuswap). Promotion and The Business Side of Publishing: Part 1 Platform and Brand; Part 2 Christian Authors and the Business of Writing. Check out info and/or to register for this October 22 event.  Workshops are interactive, and include new documents: “101 Ways (or More) to Market: An A to Z Introduction to Promotion for Writers” and “Christian Authors and the Business of Writing Resource List”

Start preparation for two workshops at Penticton’s Shatford Centre, taking place November 5 and 19. “Self-Editing Tips & Working With An Editor”  and “Working in the New Online World: brand-building, promotion, and online markets”

I was invited to join the Task Force for Literacy Now South Okanagan Similkameen — and attended the October meeting this week.  I love being involved in literacy activities in my community.

And of course I’m enjoying working with my tutoring students
